Have We Lost The Ability To Ask WHY?

Massage Therapists, Pilates Teachers and Physical Therapy professionals have lost the ability to critically analyse what they do and how they do it.

Very early on in my learning journey in our industry, I realised that very few people seem to ask WHY any more.

I was constantly asking my tutors and teachers “Why is that?”. And most of the time I got a meaningless response, largely because my tutor did not know the answer.

What I have learned over the last few years is that not only have we lost the ability to ask WHY but we have also lost the ability to critically analyse what we are taught and, most importantly, what we are doing when we are working with our clients.

The list of areas that this applies to includes (but is certainly not limited to)

  • The language we are taught about muscle issues

  • “Treat what you see and treat what you feel”

  • The assumptions we routinely rely on

  • The clinical tests and assessments we use

  • The manual therapy techniques we use and what they actually do

  • How we approach musculoskeletal problem solving

  • How we go about finding the root cause of a problem

And, with all of the above points in mind,

  • How we sell our services to clients

Each of the above topic areas is huge in its own right. But when we combine them, they become monumental.

This series of blogs will focus on the above core topic headings.

Just to introduce myself for those who don't know me ...

My name is Simon Wellsted - The Integrated Fitpro® - and I am a sports therapy professional and international educator, mentor and coach specialising in inspiring movement, massage and physical therapy professionals, just like you, to become better at what they do than they have ever dreamed possible by getting to the bottom of recurring movement, injury, and other frustrating musculoskeletal issues that other professionals have been unable to solve.

Issues that, like with my own sporting back injury 30 years ago, people have been struggling with for a very long time, receiving conflicting explanations, conflicting advice and conflicting interventions from many different professionals, none of whom has provided a robust and sustainable solution.

So I set out on a quest to find out why this happened to me and why it also happens to so many other unfortunate people who live their lives believing that they simply have to put up with their painful and debilitating issues, going to see their chosen professional on a regular basis.

I now know differently, and my SMART™ Learning Pathway encompasses everything that I discovered on my quest and delivers this to you in a very practical, game-changing way.

The best way to understand what makes me tick, to explore whether what I am offering is right for you (I will be honest with you) AND to learn something totally new and exciting is to book a free call with me.
