Back To Basics - An Introduction

Many clinical soft tissue therapists know inherently that what they have been taught is incorrect, but they do not know why this is the case, and they do not know what to do differently.

Soft Tissue Therapists DO what they have been taught to do, yet often find that things do not work as expected, or they find that results stick for a few days or weeks, and then symptoms return.

Clients learn to accept that their problem is not fully solvable!

Resolved to keep booking with therapists for years!

In this blog post series, I will explore 10 fundamental principles underlying what I teach my private coaching clients that drive their standing, results and success.

But to start, here are the 10 principles, along with a simple yet powerful tool by which you can gauge where you are.

The 10 principles are not in any particular order of importance. I explore then with my clients as and when appropriate to their business and clients they are seeing.

Starting with a Score of 10, for each of the following fundamental principles that apply to you, SUBTRACT 1, and let's see where you are right now:

(Be honest, and don't kid yourself, as you won't be doing yourself any favours!)

1. Anybody can book a session with me, for any reason

2. I sell single treatment sessions to my clients

3. My clients book for a specific modality or discipline when booking a session

4. I follow the same SOAP and assessment protocols for every client

5. I utilise postural assessments, movement assessments, special orthopaedic and other clinical tests

6. I apply the principle of ‘treat what I see and treat what I feel’

7. I treat the areas where the client indicates they have a problem (e.g. where they are in pain)

8. I advise my clients to stretch regularly

9. My clients pay at the end of each session

10. My clients choose when to book their next session with me.

There is substantial room for improvement if you scored eight (8) or less.

Improvements in your business SUCCESS - Improvements in your STANDING - Improvements in your PROBLEM-SOLVING - Improvements in your RESULTS.

Improvements that will stand you out from ALL of your competition (whoever they are and whatever they do), turning you into THE GO-TO soft tissue therapy professional in your area (and much wider afield).

Want a slice of this?

In subsequent blogs in this Back-To-Basics series, I will expand on each of the above 10 points, explaining why they are problematic and offering suggestions for alternative strategies.

But if you have any questions about what I have said above, then please do get in touch, and I will gladly answer your questions.

The next blog is all about why treating anybody for any reason is not a good strategy AND what you can begin to do immediately to change this.
